baby sweetcorn - advice wanted

Grew Minipop a couple of years ago. Took up loads of space for very little yield. Won't bother again.

Our two year old little girl adores sweetcorn on the cob, and we had a good crop last year so doubling it this year, to plant some at home too.

I've got some minipop seeds which I haven't tried yet, but will give them a go. Plenty of room on the lottie so might as well, though reading the above comments, won't get my hopes up!

You only get as many cobs as you do with 'normal' corn. I'd be tempted to grow them closer together than the standard stuff, save space and grow more standard plants.

Also, worth bearing in mind that the harvest period is quite short.

I'm growing popcorn this year - Strawberry Popcorn.

Good advice on the spacing - thanks. I had imagined there would be more cobs than with standard, does seem to be a crop only to try if you have lots of space.

Strawberry popcorn! Never even thought of it. I LOVE fresh popcorn and they look so fab.

Ordering some seeds right now. I knew there'd be something else I needed!

We grew Minipop last year - waste of space. Very little crop for the space it took up, really. We're sticking to "proper" sweetcorn this year.

So are we ...

Despite planting mini sweetcorn in a square formation (not line) ours weren't very productive either, fortunately we grew some "proper" sweetcorn too, so all was not lost!
