  • Carrots,Parsnips and compost

    Hello All
I intend to grow some carrots and parsnips this year, last season the carrots where not very good due to the clay soil that I have.
I have riddled a part of my plot to rid it of stone and debris and intend to mix in some horticultural sand with the soil to help loosen the area, should be fine for carrots and parsnips. I would like to add some homemade compost or shop bought should this be problem as I know that carrots do not like fresh manure but how will the fair against fresh compost?

    Regards

    Steven

I grew some carrots in pots last year (I also have clay soil!) in fresh Multi-Purpose compost, and they were happy enough - best carrots I've ever managed to grow!

Nothing wrong with roots in fresh compost. They'll be fine.
