  • Whats good to sow NOW???

We are in our first season as allotment holders and have sown a number of veg/fruit, but are now worried there is no more time to put anything out?

Any thoughts on what we could still put out and harvest this year?

    Look foward to any comments

Hi the B life! I've just put in some maincrop peas so I've got my fingers Xed that it isn't too late for them - I'm sure I read somewhere that it's not too late for peas so if you're not already growing them, see how you go! I'm sure everyone will be able to give you good advice.

Mangetout, beetroot, calabrese(trixie),can all be sown till end of june. Some peas ok,if you are quick.Carrots and lettice.Read all the seed packs, and most of them will say when you can plant till. Oh, forgot radishes as well! and runner beans, and dwarf beans!!!

You're still okay for most things for direct sowing, you can certainly start off winter varieties now of cabbage and also you can direct sow sprouts. I would get some lettuce packets, nothing expensive and do your own salad mix. My tomatoes I started one month ago but suggest that you try marmande which is an outdoor bush variety, one crop but a good one.
