Planted my garlic in Autumn, and all seemed well. But it looks like something has nibbled the tops of some of them nibbled it down to nearly ground level - so basically does anyone know if the garlic will still grow? one of the bulbs looked like it was pulled out a bit, so I had a peek, it looked like it had grown but not very much! any pests or predators I should've known about??

Garlic.
It is possible it was pigeons, mine where pecked at last year, tops totally removed or damaged.
All the plants survived and grew on well after i had hung old CD's and mincepie foil containers over the top to clatter and twinkle in the breeze.
See if any of the green tips are lying around nearby, pigeons like pecking at anything green looking.Blogging at..... www.thecynicalgardener.wordpress.com

What do the CD's do? Do the birds not like the shineyness or something?

I think your garlic will be fine Deezyb. Probably was a pigeon. The bulbs will be quite small at this time. It's a bit later before they really swell. I got some great garlic from a container last year. Sadly this year I have none as I was moving house and didn't plant - but there's always next year. I'm not too far from you in Coupar Angus. Maybe we could organise a Grapes convention, or plant swap or something.

I also used lots of those free DVDs from Sunday papers. They are particularly frightened of anything with Angela lansbury featuring in it.Blogging at..... www.thecynicalgardener.wordpress.com

thanks for your comments everyone! I put up CDs on Sunday after I noticed the lack of greenery! I will also have a look round to see if there is anything else that might attract their beedy eyed attention! but like you say, they'll probably still grow on okay - fingers crossed!
drove through coupar angus tonight actually Alice, on way back from Perth - maybe a tayside convention sometime would be an idea! i'm sure there are a few grapes from this part of the world!"A cat sees no good reason why it should obey another animal, even if it does stand on two legs."
