it is interesting this posting has had 29 views and no replies. I wonder if we know. Perhaps "organic" ideas are not as well thought out as modern agricultural. I mean if the question was what fertiliser (modern) to use on at different stages it would be straight forward. Now there's a gauntlet to the organic staulworts.Digging Doc

Well I'd thought I'd answer that I have no idea Don't fertilise my plants which I know I should do but they seem to manage alright without!
I would just use it anyway and see what happensRachel

I usually just leave mine to get on with it. However I have bought some blood, fish and bone which is supposed to be good!Rachel

Good thing about blood, fish and bone is that it's a slow release fertiliser so can go on fertilising the ground for months. Does this also mean that in hevay rain the nutrients can get washed down into the soil or leach out altogether?
I use this and chicken manure pellets as well, the chicken manure is faster acting but doesn't last so long.
How do you make your green manure? It's probably in another thread but not sure where...

If your growing organically, according to july issue of gyo, you shouldn't be using blood, fish and bone cos its not organic(PAGE 51)!I always thought it was supposed to be. I don't use it because I'm a 'veggie' I tend to stick with chicken pellets and growmore once the crops are in the ground, and only then if a crop looks abit under the weather otherwise I just leave the veg to get on with it with weeding being the only interferance(only toms, squashes n peppers fed oft)
