everyones plants are bigger than mine!!

been reading a few threads here and it seems that everyones plants are already much bigger than mine!!! This is my first time at growing things and I only have windowsills until I can put them into poly tunnel but wouldnt have thought that would have made much difference but maybe there is something else?

I have 4 tomato plants I bought about 3 weeks ago. they are still only about 3 " tall and bit spindly looking. Peppers I bought as tiny plants and these still seem to be tiny!! what am i doing wrong? Is it because the pots I have them in are too small? they are about 2" pots or is it heat or something else?? I am desperate for them to grow bigger

Don't fret Mrs Baggins, the grass is always greener etc.

I have found that, especially with tomatoes, those sown later catch up anyway. They grow quick when its warm and resent catching a chill.

When re-potting they are the exception to the rule and should be planted deep...to the first leaves. which should take care of the spindly problem.

Those of us without greenhouses will always be behind!
Don't worry we will catch up and may even crop later into the year.

Dont worry yourself, once you become an experienced grower, you will learn when to sow, when not to sow! Its all a learning curve, I am still learning and I have been doing this donkey's years lol........dont worry yourself. All will come right in the end.

You toms are bigger than mine , I just sow couple more tomatoes and will sow (more) later next month for the dwarf toms (depending on the available space). I don't have green house too and the only space of early sowing are south and west facing window-sills which is now totally occupied . Don't worried about your little one, they will grow and catch up with the early sowing ones.

Not sown any toms yet (keep meaning to but not got around to it, maybe this weekend!) so you're defo ahead of me on that one.

well not really- I bought my tomato plants ready made- not that green fingered yet.- and they still look like they are about to die. Think I must have the opposite of green finger- black finger maybe!!

I keep all my seeds in a box, divided into months so I know when to sew them, but I had to move most of my March seed packets into April when the weather turned nasty! I only have a small coldframe, so can't get too ahead of myself. I hope to get going again this weekend - and as everyone says, later plantings soon catch up

another one who's not planted some plants.. i haven't planted aubergines or chillis yet. only a few peppers and tomatoes, I've more to do yet. I've been holding back cos the weather has been so dreadful, just feeling its not quite time yet.

quality not quantity... as long as they look healthy I would not worry (and if you have seen any of my posts recently I worry a lot, lol)
