Plenty of manure in the form of b*llsh*t is the answer Flum!
Not for the clematis btw which as has been pointed out, like a cool root run and alkaline soil!

Well my clematis was doing really well, a good couple of feet tall and sprouting a few flower buds. But unfortunately we will never find out what it was because my darling husband decided a couple of days ago to do some 'weeding' and pulled it up. Only that plant, mind, not the bindweed growing next to it or anything.

Sigh, I've got no idea what possessed him to take it upon himself to 'weed' - he hates gardening and never does anything normally!

My Other Half asked this morning whether I had planted any spring onions this year...er - yes I did as it happens. Remember that time you were 'weeding' and I started shouting abuse at you? Well, that was the time that you pulled up nearly all the spring onions.

                      Sigh indeed.

Now that he's feeling guilty....... take him off to the garden centre and buy a few replacement plants...and then a few more!!!
