  • Cat's & Chilli seedlings...

    Grrrr I'm so peeved.

I managed to grow 1 purple jalapeno seedling and it was about 3-4 inches high and since some of the other plants in the proporgator were too big I took the lid off it and moved the seedlings into the living room where it's warmer and normally a supervised cat zone (they're not allowed in there on their own as I have a fish tank there). Today one of them has chewed the leaves (there was only two) from the purple jalapeno plant and I'm now left with a pitiful little stub.

Is there a chance it may recover from it's kitty ordeal, and if so is there anything I can do to help it????

I'm rather peeved at my kitty. gah.

Is there anything left at the centre - i.e. a growing tip - or is it just a stalk?

My cats do that as well - this year my chillies are in a plastic-covered mini-greenhouse in my conservatory, where the cats can't get them. Even so, my big Burmese has knocked them all over at least once by climbing the plastic

Never mind, Rockhag, there's still plenty of time to sow some more...

        My sympathies.
You can understand how cross people get when someone else's six moggies come and destroy their garden.

There is a tiny growing tip yes. It looks as if she's just nibbled the leaves off. I've left it to it's own devices so maybe it'll recover from it's ordeal.

That was the only seed I had that germinated.

It along with my other chilli seedlings were in a proporgator but they'd grew too big for it so I took the lid off until I had a chance to repot them and this is when Runhild attacked.

It'll be ok tho if it doesn't recover. I have another 4-5 different types of chillis growing.

All my seedlings are living in the communial hallway now in a plastic 3 tiered greenhouse so they're well out of kitty's way. :P

              SIX CATS???

That's ridiculous. One or two cats I could understand but 6 is unreal. Have you tried getting some tiger or lion dung from a nearby zoo??
