Will probably need a bit of help with tieing in to help it grow up the pergola.

Squashes are grown up pergolas here regularly and regularly feature in French gardening books. I'm growing some up my kiwi pergola this year.

Also melons are great up pergolas so long as you support them when they fruit.

Yep. they will be fine. I'm a bit concerned about the 12" pot though, theyr'e hungry little (big) blighters, when you consider how far they can grow, i'm not sure that's gonna be big enough for them. If your'e on the lottie, why not put them in the ground where the pot would stand. Just a thought

I may give it a go then. I am going to grow some at lottie as well but the ones on the pergola are just for home and to see what ahppens i suppose. Hmm realise they are greedy so may get a bigger pot!
