  • My carrots have stopped growing!

At the beginning of Feb I sowed a half row of early carrots, they didn't come up until early March and I put in another half row. Both half rows are now the same size and doing nothing! They don't even have any true leaves yet. They were under a little polytunnel thing until recently but I took it off when the frosts stopped.....
Should I put the polytunnel/cloche back on? Why aren't they growing
Last year I lost all but 3 carrots to slugs and to cap it all they have come back too I have been putting ash around the bed to stop the slugs - but it is washed away when it rains... how do the little b******s like sand???
    Help!

Cover them up again...it's still very cold at night for the little babes.
Have you tried fleece? I cover mine when they are sown and leave it on until they are all pulled ( vastly reduces the carrot fly attack and brings them on nicely!)

Ohh ...ahh...just realised your location ! 10 C at night isn't so cold really ( Marseille) - or is it cooler where you are??

      Well spotted Nicos!!
It isn't as warm as Marseille here but it certainly isn't freezing here at night at the moment. I will pop the tent back over though - I have parsnips next to the carrots that I have all but given up on. It is too cold in the house to do the kitchen paper germination thing with them!!! Maybe the parsnips will pick up too
      Thank you
