  • cold tea

A friend told me yesterday that she uses all her old teabags ( before putting them in the compost ),takes them out of the cup into a container, keeps topping them up with water and then uses that to water her plants. Says its very good for them.

Being a newbie to veg growing ,does anyone else do this and is it good for veg plants ? Would hate to kill them off with an overdose of caffeine - might make them hyperactive !

My nan used to use cold tea to water her house plants, she always had lovely house plants.

I watered my house plant with our cold herbal tea (cammomile and mint tea),they should be 100% theophyllin free as it has no real tea in it. not sure if it gives extra nutrient to them but they seems to be fine with it.

Cold chamomile tea is apparently good for watering new seedlings grown indoors, as it suppresses the fungi responsibly for damping-off disease

I'll give it a go. I'm sure it can't do any harm.I never thought of herbal teas but I would have thought they would be even better.
