Millitt, I am no expert on sweetcorn this being my first year trying them, but I planted mine in 3inch pots about 4 weeks ago and kept inside - 8 out of 9 sprouted in 2 weeks and I now have them on a windowsill and they are about 3 inches high
I will keep them inside until last chance of frost past and then plant in a well fertilised bed. Aparently you should plant out them in a block as they are wind pollinated
I hope this helps and good luck

I'm new too unfortunately, so I can't say from experience, but I'm planning on underplanting my sweetcorn with Asparagus Pea. It's a good use for the space apparently if it's at a premium, and bean plants such as the Asparagus Pea are meant to be very beneficial to the corn as it grows, and vice versa!

Millit, follow the instructions on the seed packet. You can either plant them straight into the plot (too early yet), or into cell trays or pots now, either indoors on a windowsill or in a cold greenhouse. If you use cells or pots, then keep them in these until they are big enough for planting into the open garden or allotment.

Hello Millit, you should be allright with your sweetcorn given a bit of luck and a decent summer.
Some of mine made it last year from a latish planting, in a terrible summer in Scotland.
I would say plant sweetcorn as early as you can. Keep it indoors / greenhouse til all risk of frost is past. It grows quite slowly to start with so doesn't get too big.
Then plant out in a block to help pollination. Once planted out growth is quite rapid so stand back and wait for your corn to appear.
Now when to harvest - ask nearer the time.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
