  • yellow longhorn wax runner beans

    hi has anyone grown this type of bean ,i purchased from lidl and have planted some already any tips on how to grow them as i am totally new to peas and beans have some peas in at the moment and just sown some more

    Hi Jo, well it sounds more like a breed of cattle than a bean but that aside, beans are very easy to grow just don't put them in their final spot until they are quite a few inches above ground. This is to stop the mice from overindulging and ruining their figures!!! Dont forget to dig the roots etc back into the ground when the crop is finished cos its very good for the next crop.       And don't (no, really, DON'T) put them outside until the last chance of a frost!

          I think I bought some of those on impulse ... they are French bean not runner?
          I'll be sowing them in about a fortnight, for planting outside in late May (weather permitting; they don't like cold wind or cold wet soil)
