  • Celeriac

Last year I grew some celeriac but was rather late putting it in and it didn't grow very large. I have left it over the winter and it is still looking very healthy. Am I likely to get anything from it this year. I have a feeling it will just go to seed.

If it's big enough to peel, use it now. I think you are right that if you leave it it will go to seed.

I'd use it now too- it is a biennial and will go to seed .
We pulled our last ones a couple of weeks ago and they were starting to go brown inside and become hollow.
Last year was my first good year for celeriac and what I did differently was to put tons and tons of muck in the soil and water it well.( yes I know it rained a lot last year- but we still watered it!).
It went in quite late too, but they were the biggest we've ever grown ( ie - normal size!!)

I grew it last year as well and it must have tasted lovely as the slugs ate them all..
