Depends what type.
i have bought blacktail & minnesota midget watermelon because they are bred to be early; so I am hoping for some even though they will be grown outside.
An unheated greenhouse, you should be ok once the summer gets here.

Grew them here in an unheated g/h, can't think you'll get much fruit without some cover for them? They were okay, not a great flavour, gonna try a charentaise this year.Attached FilesLast edited by smallblueplanet; 09-04-2008, 09:10 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand

I think that maybe the melon varieties grown for things other than taste, aren't perhaps the best choice. I tried MM cos they said it was a smallish plant and smaller fruit - no real mention of taste. It was okay, but the first one I picked too soon, the second was 'pleasant'.
I'm going to try a different variety this summer to see if the taste is better with a variety grown for taste rather than size. I'm still not sure we get enough sun over here, but as I've only grown melon once, I really can't say!To see a world in a grain of sand
