  • Bl**dy fox has been digging again

Has anyone got any ideas on how to dissuade him/her from digging up all my pots?

I lost all my crocuses and irises this year because the fox (I guess) dug them and scattered them (although he did leave me a half buried mini baby bel, go figure!)

And I've got a lovely big terracotta pot with a bay tree seedling in it, about 18 inches high, and I keep waking up to find it nearly completely dug up and the pot tumbled over. I'm afraid it will crack under much more of this (and so might I!)

    grrr.

Iwould say without using brutal force to arradicate the fox then get some male urine or dog poo and put it inside the pot and it may deture the fox into thinking something bigger has claimed that ground .

I feed my fox with dry cat food and clean water to try and stop him doing just that but they do like their veggies and their slugs so he may well be looking for grubs in your pot. Are youm sure its not a badger? They leave an awful mess behind and are notorious for tipping up bins and things. Just like men they never pick up after themselves either!!

Thats so we can find it again before the good lady "tidies it up"

seriously though, sounds more like a badger doing the mischief

A bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work!

hmm, got any badger tips? I've raised the bay tree over 2 years from a self-seeded seedling and would be heartbroken to lose it. I can't believe it's so attractive to the creatures of the night!

                  Try this website
How to discourage unwanted badger attention to your garden

I am not positive, it may well be foxes, but we have loads of badgers around here, and its just the sort of destructive mischief they get up to. Beautiful creatures mind, just not in your back garden!!

Badgers certainly do have a warped sense of humour thats for sure! They know where all the dogs are and like nothing better than to set them all off basrking. Once they make up their mind to visit they really are difficult to stop. One way is to install a light. mSolar powered perhaps that comes on when they get to near the pot. You could get some very testosterone heavy urine of course and splash it around and see if that works. Lion poo is really good as well. Good luck. Jan
