  • Whippet Tails - Peppers

I've seen advertised in the UK a Pepper called 'Whippet Tails' which grow up to 30cm in length. Does anyone grow them and/or can tell me about them as I cannot get them here, but they interest me though.
    I love growing tomatoes.

funnily enough I was in Asda this morning and saw some sweet peppers at least 25cm long. I was sorely tempted to buy them and then try to grow the seeds

Yes, I have grow that one. They can indeed get to 30cm. Mine were all about 25cm though. The variety is also called Joes Long and Pinocchios Nose. Joes Long is the most common name for it - often available in garden centres. It is medium hot and really thin, not chunky like the sweet peppers that Ethansmum mentions. Nothing special in terms of taste, but not unpleasant and worth growing just to see how long they are. They mature from green to red.

Thank you both for your comments. I think I may just stay with the few varieties I currently have and maybe add one more after our winter. I've pulled a few plants as not what I expected from their label. I'm overwintering Peter Pepper, Jimmy Nardello, Hanoi Red plus a Mini Chocolate Capsicum.
