  • Comfrey question

    Hi folks

I've checked on past threads but still can't make up my mind ... I'd like to grow some comfrey plants but I don't really want to pay for the root cuttings.

Kings Seeds are offering 10 Russian Comfrey seeds for £1.59 - are these the ones I want which won't spread themselves over absolutely everywhere?

    Thanks for your help ...
    Cheers

Non seeding comfrey cant be grown from seed .I have never done it( To much work) as cuttings are only about 1 pound each But if you really need to do it you need to grow a mother plant for a year or so the cut it up in same way removing the crown ( i dont know how sorry ) Id just buy 10 cuttings T-lady if i was you for this year and try the seed thing aswell in a large pot

Dave you're a star. I'll hang back and see what you can do. Let me know any P&P costs etc.

            BIG thanks!

You don't really take "cuttings" from the Bocking 14 - you divide the plant: splitting up the root. Root cuttings if you like. Each bit of root should take. It likes damp shade.

Bocking 14 is sterile - therefore, any seeds will not germinate.
