  • Ruined Potatoes?

Hello everyone, I'm brand new here and new to gardening, don't really have a clue but have been enjoying and (hopefully!)learning from this fab forum.
Think I've made a boo-boo with my potatoes, can anyone tell me if they're salvage-able?
They're planted in buckets, but I didn't know they were to go at the bottom of the bucket, so they're about 1/3 way down bucket. One is sprouting up already There's only about 3 - 4 inches of spare bucket to top up as they sprout.
They were planted on 28/03 and 04/04 - will it be ok to tip them out and start again, at bottom of buckets? And what will happen if I don't?
Thanks for any advice. Shan't be making that mistake again

They shouldnt be at the bottom in a bucket ( hard to tell without knowing your bucket size how deep ) but id say your be fine . If its about the size of the old black bins just drill a hole about 10in and pop a new spud in . also yet build up the dirt the last 4 inches

Thanks for the quick reply davefromthechipie
The buckets are only 14" deep, florists buckets. I put one potato in each.
      Still ok you think?

Still ok - if they are in danger of getting frosted (outside for instance) then use some fleece or even newspaper to keep the frost off the new leaves.
