would you sow peas just for shoots?

Yes, got a pot on the kitchen windowsill now.
They are lovely but I only grow them during the winter when theres not much green stuff outside (and peas do taste of spring!). You don't have to brave the cold to get them!
They can last for months if you let them grow a bit then harvest the tips, also it cheers me up in the winter to be able to plant something!

I've never thought of eating Pea shoots! Do you eat them raw or cook them? Do you grow several in a pot together?

I like Vicky's idea of growing them through the winter for that taste of Spring!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Thanks Vicky, I'm having a go at several pots of 'em now

A small trough of soil, sprinkle last year's leftover peas, put on windowsill...
We eat them in salads and add them to things like risotto at the last minute so they don't actually cook.
          They're yummy - pea flavour.

see my mind was working on the principal that when you have plucked the pea shoot the plant will finish - you can tell I haven't grown peas before

Sorry for being dim, but does this mean eating the shoot as in the little seedling that has just come up from some earth, or do you mean like sprouting seeds eg mung beans in a sprouter?
Been wondering about htis for a while, I inintially thought pea shoots were just the little tendrils they use for climbing!

The top leaves off the pea plant, not the sprouted seed.
You can eat the tops of broad beans too (you pinch them off to protect against blackfly, so you might as well eat them as compost them)
