  • Haricot beans - dwarf or climbing?

    Can anyone help, please?

I planted some of these out of a supermarket packet, not really expecting anything to happen - but they are germinating well- are haricot beans dwarf or climbing?

    Cheers

depends on the variety .....i've got some that climb and some that are dwarf...when you say you planted some from a supermarket packet do you mean seeds bought from a supermarket or literally you took the beans out of pods that were for eating?
perhaps you should be prepared for them to climb and if they dont take the sticks out and use them somewhere else....

I suspected that might be the answer.

Neither - they were dried beans for cooking. But seem to be growing fine.

        Haricot just means dried bean.
do as Jardiniere suggests, and stake them as climbers (bearing in mind that climbers are more productive than bush, and presumably commercial growers would grow for max.production?)
