Paint Fumes?

We painted the spare room at the weekend and I left a tray of tomato seelings and a tray of chilli seedlings in there overnight. The next morning the tomato leaves were completely 'burnt' (as if they'd been left outside), but the chilli peppers were fine. The room didn't get too cold so the only thing I can think of is the paint fumes (only emulsion).
Anyone heard of this before?

Where the toms in a draft or in direct sun, that would also 'burn' the leaves. Can't think what would be in water-based emulsion paint to be a problem?

Its the heavy metals in paint that makes it dangerous, but i'm surprised it only took a night to poison.

They were on a table, not in the sun or a draught.
Just thought it was strange!
