Somethings going on in potato land

I started my earlies in those potato planter bag thinginys. When they were to the top I put them out in my big cloche then went away for a long weekend.

On my return some (perhaps the taller ones) had gone all wilty.

Question is was this due to...

Too cold
Too Warm
Too dry
Summat else ?

I suspect a frost. It kills potatoes unfortunately. A cloche may not have given enough protection.

Do you know what the weather was like when you were away?

Have they gone soft and wilted or are they merely too tall and dropping over?
