I planted some autumn shallots that a friend bought through a special offer in a paper, they are getting close to being ready to harvest. I have no idea what tye they are but I would like to save some to plant again this coming autumn - can anyone tell me how to store them to keep them until the autumn?

When you harvest them, put them on some chicken wire or netting and leave then to dry out for a day or two or until nicely dried. they can then be stored. I put mine in either netting bags or spread out in wooden slatted trays that the green grocers throw out. Store these in a cool dim place and plant again in the autumn. Any that are not perfect should be put to one side to eat in the near future as they may not keep well.
