Yellowing seedlings

Quite a few of my greenhouse seedlings - tomatoes & cucumbers - are looking rather yellow. I'm wondering if it's overwatering, although I've tried not to do this, too much heat, although they've been out of the heated propagator for a while, or running out of nutrients in the compost they've been sown in.

Any ideas?

My first thought would be over watering too. Are they ready for potting on yet??
I presume the greenhouse is nice and light too?

The greenhouse is nice and light, yes. They're not ready for potting on yet, but yesterday I repotted them in new compost as I wasn't very happy with the one I was using. It's from a reputable nursery, their own multipurpose brand, and I've used it a lot before, but it seemed different this time - a bit crusty and fibrous. I was very careful when I repotted them, but now wonder if I've done the right thing disturbing them!

Hmmm- leave them until the weekend , and if they aren't improving take a couple and a sample of the compost and ask what they think- the compost may have been bagged up wrongly????

Could be that you had over watered them ( or the pots were waterlogged??) originally and the fine roots have rotted and it should take a few days for them to recover.

Thanks Nicos - I will mention to the garden centre about the compost as I've used it for everything I've sown. I wondered if a special seed compost might be better than multi-purpose next year.

I may well have over-watered, over-heated, or subjected them to the cold too quickly though!

Multi-purpose compost could be the problem as it's much 'heavier' than seed compost! ( I think it has more nutrients in it too???)
