Am now in my 4th year of my allotment, have moved plots and given some of my current plot away. But i finally feel this year that it is working well so do not stress out, everyone will judge how well yours is doing but nobody can take it off you, take your time and step back occasionally and look and pat yourself on the back. finally grow one straightforward crop in your 1st year and enjoy the rewards it does your confidence the world of good.
Plan your lottie, take photos and keep good records of what you grow where and refer to it regularly. It will help you with your crop rotation. My book is like my lottie bible.
I have had my plot for 3 years now, I would take it slow, dont try and dig over all the plot and plant in every space at it wont happen in the first year. I think maybe this year I might be able to clear the whole plot and grow stuff on 90% of it.
Enjoy it, make friends with the neighbours, take advice and have fun
I also find if you spend an hour down the allotment and focus on one section I get alot more done rather than spend 5 hours and doing 15 things, you look and its seems you have done nothing.
Also take some tea ( sometime of drink) and some food as this will help you relax. and sit back and look at your hard work
thanks everyone i think i will take my time and just work some of my lottie this year. i will keep reading the posts and listen to all the advice i get. Thank you all for making me feel welcome.
