  • pea shoots?

    i recently bought a bag of pea shoots from sainsburys and would like to grow my own as they are really expensive and if not eatne all in one go went soggy after first day.;(
    have tried researching the type i need but cant find them anywhere, can anyone help me?

    It doesn't matter what type. I sow peas thickly in any spare container (so thick you can't see the compost) then cover with about a half-inch of compost. Keep damp, wait till shoots are about 4 inches tall, cut at a height of around 1 1/2 inches and enjoy those shoots, leaving the remains to shoot again. If they get forgotten and go too tall to eat, plant in the garden

      Mung beans or aduki beans work ok, but I have never got them to grow into long 3" shoots as you see in the supermarket.

        If you are buying pea seed just for shoots, the mange tout varieties are particularly good as they grow so fast.

        Pea shoots are delicious....reminded me to go plant some
