Olive Tree (The return!)

Thought SueA and others (?) might be interested to see piccies of my olive tree that is about to flower. It flowered last year and some olives had set, but storms blew them off! Hoping for better this year.....

I heard somewhere today that a farm has planted olives for oil production in the south-west of England. I think they expect a crop in 5 years or so.

That looks like our tree! We got some last year as well but never got round to picking them

Love olives, but they never taste the same over here as they do abroad. Best eaten with a chilled white wine and feta cheese! Calorific value schmalue!

Lol! Well they were rather small but then I don't think that they were too happy outside. Will put them in the greenhouse when it comes to autumn!

Best used in a catapult to keep the pigeons off your peas.... I hate the little gits I'll go with the white wine & feta cheese although I prefer wensleydale myself - the proper stuff made from sheeps milk if you can get it

There's an offer of a free olive plant in the new Gardeners' World mag (Aug), just 4-95 p&p- might send for one to see if I have better luck with that.
