    Hi All

I am growing okra and one flowered a couple of weeks ago which I pollinated with a brush.

Although the plant is only about 7 inch high this is the result, there are plenty of flowers on all of my plants that havent opened yet but all the plants are around 7 inch high. Wonder how long till they grow up.

The interesting thing is that although it is a red okra the colour is only on the surface as you can see from the second picture where I have rubbed it off.

        Those are exactly my thoughts.

Well done, are you growing it in a greenhouse or out in the open?

I am having a go at okra - just picked up some seeds at the local garden centre on a whim. Eek I hope they don't grow 6 foot tall! Currently I have two plants just getting their first true leaves, in my mini-greenhouse. Was planning to move them outdoors (probably to our farm plot where there is more sun) when summer is properly underway.

Do you have to hand-pollinate? Is that as hard as it sounds?
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Came home for lunch and found another okra flower open, they really are pretty flowers on them.

Its now about 15 minutes since pollinating it by hand and the flower has already started to close.
