        Fits me perfectly.

I made loads of those for our wedding. They were place name holders made from champagne cages. We had to drink loads of champagne before we had enough!

Oh wow, I like the idea of using them as mini cloches.. perfect at the moment when my babies (er, I mean, seedlings) are small and it's quite windy out... I'm off sick today but I'll get my boy to bring me some home

I use Pot Noodle pots to pot on to, lots in bin at work.
                    All the best to all.

I recently read (can't remember where) that the polystyrene ones are best as they keep the heat in.
                      Cheers

Polystyrene cups are better because of their thermal insulation properties and inherant strength.

Fantastic idea! Thank you. Especially good for little things to be sent to the charity fair.

We've used them for years as OH used to bring them home from work - along with the coffee grounds from the vending machine for composting. Sadly he no longer works there, but the cups are still going strong and we must have had them eight years and used them several times a season.

My Mum used them all the time for beans. Still remember how tricky it was to open the curtains as a kid

I read an article the other week i think it was in the Grow It Magazine,It was about using
Polystyrene cups, I bought some from Pound Land @ 50 for a pound.
I had bought some plant plugs (cabbage and swede) from e-bay,they arrived not looking in the best condition, so I mixed play sand (which is cheap from Argos) with a peat free compost, and put the plugs in the cups,i cut 4 slits in the sides and a couple of holes in the bottoms. The cups were then planted straight into the ground, the plants are doing well, the advantage of the Polystyrene cups over plastic is that the roots can break through the Polystyrene themselves, or you can just break it away from the root ball with little disturbance.
I have planted some Garlic cloves , and Cauliflower seeds in cups this weekend, I am going to see how they do compared to the ones planted directly into the ground.
