latest planting for potatoes??

I have a water logged plot - doing my best to dig ditches etc to try and drain some of it away. Even in the drier areas the soil is very wet - I don't want to risk my seed potatoes rotting, so how long can I leave it to plant them, in order to give soil time to dry a bit?? Basically what I would like to know is what's the latest you would plant potatoes?

Can't you get some big pots and pile the soil in those and plant in there; until it dries out a bit?
