  • Brassicas & Heavy Soil

    I have two problems

    1 Heavy clay soil

2 Loads of cabbage, cauli and brussels plants that have all germinated and are growing well.

Will the two go together with a little help of some compost mixed into the soil?

Should be fine Kimbo. I have clay and never have problems with brassicas.

Brassica's like heavy soil....they'll be fine!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

They need to be in firm soil. Now brassicas and light sand - whooo, difficult!

Brassicas need lots of nutrients, heavy clay soil tends to be nutrient rich as they don't wash away as they would on say, sand. I have clay and my brassicas do really well. Only problem is clay soil can tend to lean to the acidic so lime it if necessary.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
