  • A quick recap.....

Hi, I started my very first attempt at growing veg in the raised beds I have built.

Well I now have Potatoes coming though, as are the Lettuce, Beans, Beetroot & Carrots. SO i'm WELL Chuffed!

Also, my grandad who was a keen veg grower died a month ago and when clearing out his shed my dad found some Broad Bean seeds that he's grown and cross-pollinated (or whatever the correct word it) himself over many years. The beans are white and according to my dad produce an excellent crop so I have 3 of them in the propagator so hopefully will be big enough to plant out soon.

Will be exciting to see how they grow.

    HI Matt,

It's great isn't it when things start to appear....sooo exciting.

And wonderful that you've found some of your Grandad's special Broad Beans, hope you have a wonderful crop from them!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
Always aim for the best result possible not the best possible result

sorry to hear about your grandad but great news about the beans!
I have flowers from great grans garden and great aunts and now my OH's grans flowers and when OH grandad died his gran found a packet of seeds in the shed with our name on and no label so it was nice to watch them come up and see what they were.
hope you keep enjoying the plot.
