  • Plants in stoney/sandy soil

I've got a stretch of ground, near a wall that's sandy and gravelly. Are there any plants that will cope with those conditions?

i would get some manure and some compost mixed in to it for a start, you could always construct a raised bed there and fill with nice manured soil x

      Sun or shade?

Alpines may do well there or drought resistant plants such as Rosemary and some of the herbs from warmer areas.

If there is a good depth of soil and your water table is moderate you could try a fruit tree - you would need to water well for the first few summers.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!
