Climbing bean Cobra

has anyone ever grown this? I am trying it this year and need to know how tall they are likely to grow. Are they dwarf size or what ?

I grow this most years, not dwarf I pinch tops at about 5 feet or they are too tall forme to pick. Grows well prolific, pods areon the largish side- not those fine french beans you can get, although I should maybe pick them earlier. Great if you want easy to grow bean. Im also trying them from seed saved last year.

I've just googled it and all the companies say to put supports in...so I'm guessing not dwarf!

I can't get my Cobra to germinate.....second yr I've had aproblem with this variety.

I'm having the same problem with some of my Frenchies ... I am now soaking them overnight in cold water, draining off and pre-germinating on some damp kitchen towel. The ones that shoot, get potted up. The ones that don't = compost.

There's a clue in the title! (sorry, couldn't resist that)
They will grow as tall as you let them. I stop my climbing beans at about 6 foot when they reach the top of their canes.

Interesting; I am also having trouble with the frenchies this year; last year they romped away but this year, it's pitiful.

You answered your own question Sam. If it's a climbing bean, then it's not a dwarf bean. All climbing beans (french and runners) need canes, netting or wires for support, and I've found that even the dwarf varieties do better with something to cling to, albeit not as tall as the five or six foot supports you need for climbing beans.

I mix mine in with my Lady Di runner beans, cobra grow quite big, pinch out the tops when they grow about 6ft......nice bean.....
