Severed Pumpkin Plant

One of the cats has banged into one of the pumpkin plants; It's an advanced seedling - with 6 true leaves - and is now almost completely snapped in half half way down the stem. It's hinged by a thread.

I staked it - and the cat! - and I was thinking of putting Sellotape around it or even one of those hydro-colloid plasters which are used in wound healing...

Would I be wasting my time do you think or is there a way to resurrect plants that are 'clean in half'?

Strap it up with a permeable tape, bury the snapped bit when you plant it and you should have no problems. We had this with a tomato last year; the thing grew to over 6' tall.

We use Masking Tape. It's white and not shiny like sellotape etc.
Mind you i don't know what hydro-colloid plasters are.

If your tomato plant grew to over 6" tall with masking tape then masking tape it's gotta be!!

Might try some on myself!
