Try popping them out in the day and back in again at night for a week or so to get them hardened off if you're growing them outside. BEWARE they don't like cold, i grow about 20 dwarf frenchies in poly/t and they love it [and so do the slugs]
I have about 14 plants,I think i'm going to plant them in the garden.
I've heard pigeons love to eat the tips though,is this true? if so i'll have to cover them up.

I grow them every year ... I've never known a woodpigeon to be even slightly interested (but they love brassicas and peas) I believe they go off to the countryside for the summer anyway http://www.bto.org/gbw/PDFs/FocusOn/Focus_WOODP.pdf

I'd bring them outside now and leave them outside unless you have a frost forecast in your area. I have all mine outside now and they're doing fine, just move them if it's going to be particularly cold.
And pigeons may nip out the tops, problem is even with netting it may not solve the problem, use bird scarers.
I leave mine out all day and bring them in last thing at night, I will be planting them as soon as i get the time.
Didnt thik of the birds, I may just put them in a polytunnel.
If i put them in a polytunnel how often do you need to take it off if at all?
