  • Rocket potatoes

    Hi,

I planted my first ever potatoes, which were Rocket, towards the end of March. They popped through fairly quickly and I've earthed them up 3or 4 times. The halums are looking healthy and I've stopped earthing up now although if a frost is forecast I'll cover them with fleece. My question, eventually, is How will I know when to dig them up?!

They might flower or they might not - can't remember if Rocket do sorry. However, earlies are usually around 12 weeks to ready - when they have been in that long, have a broggle (feel) around in the earth and see what you find. If you are careful, you can leave them in situ if they aren't big enough yet.
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

Thanks. Looking forward to a furtle or a broggle I'll leave it until the end of May though.

If you put them in at end of March I'd wait till the end of June - 12 weeks-ish.
