  • Sub artic plenty toms

Whats the consensus of opinion on the best place to grow Sub artic plenty tomatoes, G/house, P/tunnel or outside in garden?

I'm growing some of these, in pots, along with (many!) others. I though it was meant to be early? So far Garden Pearl, Japanese Black Trifele and Red Calabash have all started to flower, no sign of S-A P.

I am growing sub arctic plenty this year but dont know anything about them. Are they tasty toms? I think I was a bit heavy with the putchasing of my seeds so I have done a few of each various toms this year. Last year was our first year with toms and we lost the lot due to blight. So I am not doing the same ones this year. Forgotton what I have planted unfortunately. But I am hopeful.

Subarctic Plenty are now showing first signs of flower trusses. 3 will go in unheated greenhouse, daughter will probably nick a few more and the rest will go on the lottie (under cloches to start with). Never grown them before so can't help on the taste question, will have to wait and see.

Mine are doing well - nearly big enough to go out - they'll mainly go on the lottie which is sheltered but as they're bush types I don't Think they'll blow over!

I have a few plants so will put a couple in all places to see what does best! (OH has started on the greenhouse yay)

Don't think I will be putting any straight in the ground though as not much room left. I could put them in the flowers beds too along with all the other random stuff I am putting there! So grow bags against the house and in the greenhouse for me.

Mine have started to branch at the top, and have flowers on both branches
They'll all be going outside, as they're supposed to be happier in lower temperatures, and I have other toms which need the greenhouse space! They're already outside through the day, back in at night.

I've got Black Krim too. And Tiger Tom which is supposed to fruit better outdoors than in. I shall do a blind tasting with the family if they all fruit well.

Mine too. All my tomatoes have been very slow to get going this year but they are starting to pick up now and are nice sturdy plants. Think my SAP will be outdoors, one is for parent's in law and they have no greenhouse.
