  • nettle fertilizer

I heard that nettles make a good ferlilizer.
I`ve collected some nettles & put them in a bucket of water, now what? How long before it`s ready, which plants can I use it on & do I have to dilute it?

Have a look here, it will fill you in, Making Nettle Leaf Plant Food. Haven't used it myself, can't find the nettles so I'm more a comfrey girl.

Sorry, can't really answer your question but do make sure you keep the bucket MILES away from the house - it stinks something awful

Great, thanks. I didn`t crush the leaves or weight them down so I guess I`ll have to collect some more.

pmc, it'll still work, just might take a bit longer. An earlier post by Roitelet might be of interest on this, it's at

Stuff the leaves into 4 pint plastic milk bottles and keep the lid on. This will contain the smell.
Do a Search on Comfrey: the advice is the same for making nettle juice. here's one old thread to get you started: http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...mfrey_107.html
