Holes in veg patch

Hi,

I've started to notice a lot of a small holes in my veg patch, about 5mm in diameter, and I'm not sure how deep they go. I haven't seen anything doing it yet, but I once saw what looked like a small wasp coming out of one, as well as ants, but thought nothing of it.

We once had a wasps nest underground. There was an entry hole and an exit hole. There was a lot of activity around it. It was in a rockery though, so not in a flat area.

That sounds just liek what I've got. My only worry is that they have done some nest building in an area that I'm hoping to plant something in soon. Hoping not to get lots of stings while doing it!

If you read the link, you'll find that it's no "nest" as such, just a little burrow for one larvae. Larvae can't sting you. And the adult Solitary Bee's sting is feeble anyway - they are really harmless to you. Don't worry about them.
