?slugs in rhubarb

I planted 3 rhubarb crowns out about 4 weeks ago. Two have completely disappeared, with no animal tracks etc in the earth [have probs with rabbits, moles and deer].
The 3rd one seemed to be doing well and today it's like a sieve with tiny holes all over the lone leaf! Could it be slugs, and is it worth trying to save. Would appreciate any thoughts.

i've had the same problem.. i can only assume it's slugs.. my crown had chucked up two nice big stalks that were totally decimated in the leaf department.. however rhubarb seems to be fairly sturdy, it's pushing out two new stalks as i speak and since laying beer traps filled with 8.5 % cheapo lager ( who drinks that stuff! ), they seem to be fine

When I do my nightly slug hunt when it gets dark, I can always depend on finding a few on the rhubarb leaves. When I force a few rhubarb plants early in the season I take the bins off, nightly, and slaughter all the slugs, as they seem to be particularly partial to the extra tender forced leaves

With what, the OH or the slugs
Don't worry about the rhubarb, it's harder to kill than bindweed

I had my rhubarb under a bucket to force it ... when i took the bucket off, there were LOADS of slugs and snails. They were promptly 'seasoned' with the white stuff. The tatty nibbled leaves had to go on the compost, but the stems were untouched and still perfectly edible.
