  • Spinach - curly leaf problem

    Hi,
Just wondered if anyone knew why we are getting a problem with some of our Spinach leaves?
THe plants have been grown in seed trays and then transplanted and have been in the allotment for a few weeks. The majority are looking really good, but some of the leaves have gone quite crinkley and curled up, as if something was pulling the leaf in on itself.
We have pulled the leaves appart but cannot see any likely culprits.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Cheers

Somtimes leaves do that if it's really hot & sunny. To conserve moisture....

No idea if that's the problem though.

    But it's a thought!

My spinach does that, I don't think it's a pest or disease. It still tastes OK; the only gripe is that it needs to do some work on trying not to shrink to a tiny amount when cooked.

My Spinach is curling its leaves too, I read some where only the other day that to cook Spinach you should just wash it then put the wet leaves in a saucepan, no extra water then cook for 3 minutes I think it said. Any one tried this? We've only eaten ours as a salad leaf and in lasagna so far
