  • runners get to the top of the wigwam and ????

Hi my runners are growing rapidly and one in particular, who shall remain nameless, has decided he wants to get to the top of the wigwam first!!

Help, what do i do when he gets to the top?? do i pinch him out to stop growing and let the others catch up??

    Thanks

Yes. Well that is what I do, otherwise they become a tangled mess at the top.

If you can do it unwind the mad one take it round to another cane and start it of again but you have to be very carefull and when you start it of again make sure you wind them the right way they all go the same way round the cane good luck jacob

Yes, pinch out the growing tip.

Yes Jacob - this is similar to layering sweet peas to prolong the flowering season - what a faff!! I would just say pinch out at the top of the cane and let the flowers and hopefully beans develop from there.

If you don't pinch out the tops you will finish up with a runner bean mullet!

What I used to do, was run a line between wigwams, then train the longer ends across those.
