Purple Mange Tout - How High?

Good Morning,

I wonder if anyone could help with my mange touts? I was given them by my mum who got them from a friend and I have no background info to them at all. Has anyone grown them before? Are they just purple peas that you can eat flat and undeveloped? Most importantantly, how high do they grow?

I grew purple-podded mangetout last year. They get to around 3 foot high and like some support. They are best eaten when you can just feel the peas starting to swell, if you let them get too fat they become dry and not so nice. If you steam them gently you can get the pods to stay purple - the peas and insides of the pod are bright green. I allowed the last few pods to dry on the plants at the end of the summer and am growing them from those saved seeds this year.
