french Dwarf Beans

I have 6 to 7 plants in very large pots x 3 what sort of yeald can I expect, they are in the tunnel and have beans on them but as soon as the weather warms up they will be put outside as I need the room in the tunnel.

Could I expect 20 beans per plant or more or less

Marion, that's a question that's impossible to answer, it depends on so many factors, weather, insect attack etc etc. But if I got less that 20 beans per plant, I'd be thinking that the beans are a waste of space!

Good morning Marion et Bonjour Tony.

I think the major factors in yield are regularity of watering and picking but they are pretty productive plants. For early crops I grew 4 in a 2 litre pot. Really you should be thinking of sowing your next batch now for planting out. What variety are they?

I grow in little goups of three plants with a cane to each group. 4 seeds per 3" pot should do fine -don't water again till they are up....or direct sowing in warm weather.

Some are sarfari, cannot remember others maybe yellow ones in one pot, they appear to be growing beans a a quick rate no much sign last week to 10days ago but some are now nealry at the size you eat.

Other dwarf beans sown in trays a week ago, what I am wonder is will these plants in pots still be producing at beginning of July as I have friends round for dinner and want to serve these.#

Yes they might be. As I say, with beans it is really important to pick all of them every two days. If you miss/leave any then they stop producing.
