Just been to Wyevale nearby and they have a big holding unit in the carpark marked Plant Pot Recycling (or something) and people actually come and bring their used pots, seed trays etc and put them in there. Imagine!

I assume by "recycling" that they mean - take 'em if you want 'em - so I came home with an assorted carload - mostly I wanted the 3" type pots and the trays you stand them in - I've plenty of larger containers of around 6" size and of bucket size, just never enough little ones!

i was only joking...thanks to everyone for all their input. As soon as my wife takes me to Morrisons I'll pick up a couple of pounds worth. I'm not being lazy (honest), I broke my leg two weeks ago tomorrow and can only get anywhere when I'm taken, including my allotment to water my greenhouse.

If you want cheap ... I'm using 2 litre placcy milk bottles as containers. Cut off the tops and handles, and punch holes for drainage. Being square, they tesselate nicely too.

Brilliant Two Sheds, great idea thanks. Only trouble is, we only buy a litre at a time and here, they come in round bottles so they don't tessellate so well

if you can't get the morrisons buckets (I can't ) wilkos do buckets (ie in the 'brooms n stuff' section rather than with gardening) for 69p which are just the right size

37 black buckets from a very kind lady working on the flowers...maybe she felt sympathy for me hobbling around on crutches because she told me to tell the girl on the till that I could have them for nothing!

OK - time for another silly question - what's "tesselating"? I am guessing that the square containers can fit well together with very little space between them, but I am so often wrong I figured I'd better check.....

Thanks so much for the tip about tomato planters from Morrisons. 99p for eight planters is brill. I managed to get some in Morrisons in Haverfordwest.
