  • How many peppers ?

Morning folks, all wet here today in south wales ! Quick pepper question,
how many peppers should i expect to get on my plant as it has 3 that have started and about 20 flowers, should i be restricting the number to get less but be bigger, it is a bell type plant, thanks

You should pinch out the growing tip when they are 6" high to encourage sideshoots and more fruit. In an unheated greenhouse you should get 6 peppers or more; a heated greenhouse will extend the growing season and more fruit.

This is one of mine from last year. I can see 5 peppers but I'm sure it had more.
I had another plant which did quite small peppers , but had about 20. Sorry I can't find the pic.

I think about six or eight peppers is about normal for bell peppers if you want to grow big ones. I just go for as many as the plant will produce and go for numbers rather than size. I don't pinch out or perform any other restriction. I will usually manage to get between ten and fifteen peppers, depending on type.

I've just left mine to it as well. Both plants are about 2ft tall, and one has about 30 fruit and plenty of flowers, while the other has just started flowering. I figured leave as is and see what happens.
