  • I Got 5 Different Varieties Of Potatoes Now

My friend popped round on friday and gave me some seed potatoes for my containers, so i now have 5 varieties growingthey are :-
    Edzell blue
    Pink fir apple
    Duke of york
    Carlingford
and an unknown variety i have already planted, i guess its a good way to see which ones i like best.
My cheif helper has been having a great time helping me plant them shes 3 and a half and loves gardening, i take her to a gardening club we have in the village where we have a massive communal allotment we have get to gethers and all grow things there, there are several families and the kids all have a great time growing or playing together, they all love looking for the potatoes when we dig them up. and it beats too much telly.
just have to wait now to taste my free tatties

Really great to see people getting the youngsters involved in gardening. Well done.

Your communal allotment sounds great. Just the kind of place children should be. Enjoy your potatoes and don't forget to post your opinion on the different varieties. We might want to try them.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Hey it all sounds good - your garden club sounds like a bigger and better version of what we have here! There are four mums and 7 little ones (aged 0 to 5) sharing a smallish plot on the city farm. My daughter is about 3.5yo and loves it, although mostly she either gets in the way or nags me to crack open the chocolate, the actual gardening she does is minimal - she likes sowing seeds though! And helping to earth up spuds. And spraying the beans. And giving snails to the chickens. So not too bad for a three year old lol, she did the hoovering earlier and all!
        xx
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Not sure I think I have 7 sorts of potatoes. The ones that I'm really interested in are the three Sarpo varieties to see what they taste like and the yields. My two favourites are charlotte and pink fir.
