  • Carrot question - quick response appreciated please

Hi its not raining here this am so have decided to get some jobs done in the garden whilst I can....

The carrots seem to have got left and left this year so am just about to sow my first lot. My idea is to sow 2 rows; the old packet from last year will be sown intersown with salad onion (a packet of seed I bought which I hadnt planned for) these all to be harvested young and the 2nd lot and autumn variety to be left longer to mature.

On either side of the planned carrot row is; French beans then brussels and celery then carrots. I had a problem in that I sowed the brussel sprouts too early and they ended up having to be planted. Luckily? my the majority of the glut of celery seedlings havent survived so I only needed half of my planned row so of course the early brussells went there. So the adjacent rows will now be; brussels AND celery then carrots (if I buy more seed which I may do as our bunnies will eat any glut we end up with) and the other row french beans then who knows what!

My main question is of the two rows of carrots which should be next to the french beans and which next to the brussels/celery? The other question is what could I plant in place of the brussels or perhaps as we love brussels should I continue with the original plan for that row?

Sorry its a waffle and one littered with spelling mistakes but am in a hurry before the weather turns.

    Many thanks

    Tammy

Up here where the sun is cracking the flags and there isn't a cloud in the sky I'd say put them where ever takes your fancy. It's going to be difficult to follow any proper crop rotation in a garden, unless it's Kew. Just try and remember where you put what this year and don't put the same type in the same bit of soil next year
